Older Terrors

by Esben and the Witch

supported by
Frederick Jones

Frederick Jones The beating bass drum sounds in and then Rachel's voice , haunting and chilling runs down your spine and them the guitar and bass and drums pick up the tempo and then it falls back off with a chilling, haunting vocal. Wow. Best part is it just keeps getting better across the four songs which are 10+ minutes each. A masterpiece of classic doom like no other. Can't wait for the wax!!!!!!! Favorite track: Making the Heart of a Serpent.
Odd Creature

Odd Creature Take your knife and take a slice of the dense atmosphere. EATW can create this special mood really well. Thank you. Favorite track: The Wolf's Sun.
Mubla Na Thguob
Mubla Na Thguob thumbnail
Mubla Na Thguob When a band can let a song unfold for over ten minutes and still keep your attention they're good, but when at the end of that song you hit repeat, they're extraordinary.
Edit 11/23/2016: Finally got around to unwrapping the vinyl. Well shipped and pristine plus the vinyl itself looks amazing. Favorite track: Sylvan.

Michael Stevens Wow - this is great music! This is their latest offering [Nov 2016] and it sure doesn't disappoint. Only four tracks but each of them is over 10 mins.
Mykhailo Balashov

Mykhailo Balashov The band's most solid album to date. Stunning record as always. Favorite track: Sylvan.
Michael Keerdo-Dawson

Michael Keerdo-Dawson Esben and the Witch have continued to hone their post-rock sound with every passing album, ditching the electronic touches and instead opting for purer rock-centric instrumentation. This album takes another bold step, extending the length of the tracks (four in total) to bust the ten minute mark, but without ever falling into indulgence. It's a grower in every sense of the word, repeat listens reveal depth and texture which were not apparent on first encounter. Favorite track: Sylvan.

about

The English via Berlin post-rock trio ESBEN AND THE WITCH return anew with 'Older Terrors', their latest album and first with Season of Mist. Led by the captivating voice of Rachel Davies, the trio cut a wide swath of sound ranging from the dark and subtle to the triumphal, glorious roar of loud guitars. As the stunning "Sylvan" illustrates, they also find home in the shadows between the light and dark. 'Older Terrors' is nothing short of a stunning and poignant album.
